Virginia Western Community College sees increase in enrollment
ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - Virginia Western Community College is hoping its enrollment continues to climb to pre-pandemic numbers.
Officials say full-time student enrollment for this fall is up 7.5% compared to Fall 2020.
Governor Northam’s G3 Initiative allows new students to take free classes in health care, public safety, and manufacturing, to name a few.
These are also the fields seeing the most enrollment for students pursuing an associate’s degree or certification at V-W-C-C.
Josh Meyer, Director of Marketing for VWCC, says now is the time if people have been considering higher education.
“Virginia Western is very affordable to begin with, but now there’s opportunities like we’ve never seen before,” says Meyer.
The college is still welcoming students to enroll for the fall, offering classes in person and online.
